The premise is that a young man is a talented artist and applies to an elite art school but the application requires his portfolio to feature nude figure drawing. He looks for models to hire but they're all too expensive. He doesn't work and his mother doesn't make much money so he's about to give up until his mother offers to be his model just to get him accepted. It turns out that the school administration not only accepts him but demands to know who his model is because they want to offer her a steady job. He tries to dodge the issue but they insist that his acceptance is conditioned on his bringing his model with him. His mother begrudgingly accepts for his sake and they make up a lie about her identity as a world traveling stranger he met by chance. They both struggle to maintain the charade as the situations get more awkward, the lies pile up, and the other students and faculty assume they are in a sexual relationship or try to get them together into one.
