Think about Setsuka. A blonde, western chick in feudal Japan that dresses and fights in the local style. What did Namco do? Made it part of her backstory that she was a disliked foreign orphan raised and trained by a kindly swordmaster that Mitsurugi kills in a duel.
There, justification for her appearance, motivations and involvement in the story sorted out in one swoop.
What the hell is the explanation for Taki's lolicon clone Natsu? Why is a native Japanese girl blonde? Why is a teenager a master ninja? Why has reaching her mid-forties made Taki an invalid? Mitsurugi is older, has no bullshit immortality handwave and is still able to go. Why not Taki? Or Seong Mi Na or Setsuka for that matter?
But women in their late thirties and forties are ew, right? Best put them on a bus and throw their movesets on some pedobait. The only female that gets to stay sans bullshit anti-aging storyline is Hilde because her horrid thrity-five year old boobs will be hidden behind armour, thank god!
