They used to have a lot of utility in the 80's-mid 00's like remembering the phone numbers of every pizza place in town. Almost every friend group had an autist if nothing else to just function as the group's mentat. Now half of them are claiming disability and people have no social need for them so they just go balls deep into sonic shit or whatever. Imagine how useful those guys would have been when telegraphs were a thing.
