It's not an absolute fact that women all want children, it just happens that a lot of them often do.
Personally, I don't think Samus wants kids, but did feel a bond with the Metroid hatchling because it not only proved the creatures weren't all horrible, but also found it to be just very endearing.
Samus is a hardcore chick, and anyone who suggest otherwise (I'm looking at you Team Ninja, fuckwad morons) are just stupid.
