I remember as a kid we'd go barefoot all the time, and we had that same struggle. I remember one time on a particularly hot day, I was virtually trapped by the ocean on a tiny beach because the only way to the parking lot was a long stretch of pavement back to the main path. My only options were really to wait until evening, scamper across and accept your feet burning, or get creative. A naked girl "trapped" in an open area by essentially an invisible fence to the average clothed person is a pretty humorous idea.
People would stare and walk on the path openly in front of her, wondering why she doesn't hide or move, not realizing the pavement they walk on would be a painful ordeal on top of an embarrassing one.
