What's happening around the girl and her location and setting is also very important. If there is just a blank white background then it's difficult for me to enter to picture or perceive myself as someone in the picture or as the picture's viewer. If there is no background, my brain says 'this is a picture', where as if there is an immersive background then why brain is willing to accept it as a person or character.
