The world is still heating up. Despite all the efforts of science and the advancement of technology, global temperatures continue to rise. With no cause found and no hope to stop it, governments around the world enact a desperate plan. Among humanity's technological developments was the ability to digitize people. And so a plan is put in place to digitize as much of humanity as possible and letting them live out their lives until the environment returns to normal. This could take potentially millions of years though. Estimates have all human infrastructure being destroyed or rendered inoperative by that point. And so the computers are made small, durable, self-sustaining, and portable. Now there's just a matter of finding a safe place to put them in the constantly shifting and flooding post-apocalypse.
It was decided that a number of women would be chosen and trained for this task. They were trained in survival techniques and in caring for the computers. Girls that were chosen had a propensity of being comfortable naked as the high temperatures made it not only impractical to be clothed, but dangerous. Their nudity allowed scientists to splice their genes with those of a jellyfish, allowing them to absorb oxygen from the water through their skin should they need to be underwater for extended periods of time. Other adaptations were added, including decreasing their metabolic rates, halting the aging process and stopping their menstrual cycle. When a safe place could be found, the girls would set the computer to release everyone when conditions were right and would digitize themselves to live out their lives as a punishments human. With that, the world was digitized and the girls were sent off.
