99 out of 100 Chun-Li illustrations are badly drawn.
Why does the best game girl get the worst art? This isn't true for any other character.
Why is this so hard, can't artists just use reference if they're not confident with their anatomy?
I'm not even asking for super academic figures, a figure can be convincing even if there's a couple mistakes. Instead, I notice most people deliberately choose a grotesque fetishy design that doesn't match the design of the character. You don't have to be precisely by-the-books when it comes to her design, but I don't understand why so much of the Chun-Li art qualifies as milk-tank.
Common problems:
- Bad perspective/anatomy (impossible connections between joints, bad proportions)
- Broken spine problem (Google this if you're not familiar)
- Breasts/thighs grotesquely large (likely for fetishism)
- Bad rendering in-general ("pimples" for the specular highlights, flat colors)
- Specific regions of the body being rendered with more detail than others (crease marks for thigh muscles are commonly drawn in great detail with the rest of the body not having the same detail)
I'm not even good at drawing, but I could probably draw a better Chun-Li than most of Danbooru/Rule34.
