Here's a test image I made. The hair is pretty hard to get right since it melts in with the dark background, but I managed to get it pixel perfect by comparing it with parts from the GIF-version of the shorter one. I removed the background and then I drew over parts of the picture, colour for colour, with magenta, which I later filled in using the pallete from the GIF. I've extracted the background from the GIF, so I'll just have to restore the parts of the frames with the girl, then I can overlay them all on the background (I'll still have to restore the wind parts), which will save time. This will still be extremely hard and time-consuming, so I might only make a single frame per day.
