To people who have seen very little anime, much of what you call normal non-hentai anime looks to them like fan-service, pornography, or child pornography. My republican parents think most anime is porn and should be regulated according to the same decency laws as other videos made in the USA. They sometimes get on my back about that, but have so far thrown out any of my manga, anime, DVD, or figures. It's their house, so of course they could. I'm glad that I'm not in an apartment with a conservative manager who inspects apartments (legally allowed) with an eye out for anime as child porn. A lot of "fan-service" anime violates the PROTECT Act (almost anything ecchi violates that law) and reports it to the police.
