Elves are a mainstay, but while they're depicted fairly consistently, physically, what exactly do they offer? Pointy ears aren't a turn-on to a lot of people I'd think.
Personally I picture a "hoity toity" kind of attitude, like they're better than human, like royalty. Which makes them fun to break.
Of course there's the Tolkienesque long-life or immortality. Eternal youth is a definite selling point. Anything else?
