And as I understand it, Dickens was never particularly verbose. His writing is mostly characterized by and remembered for social commentary on Victorian England and particularly his depictions of widespread and callous social injustice against the poor and so forth. A better comparison to criticize my overly long stories would have been Robert Jordan, although I suppose he's probably less famous so somebody would have had to look him up and that kinda defeats the point...
