I somewhat agree with your points about Zest. It's not that she wanted Basara's attention. Basara was more or less the first person to show Zest true kindness. Thats more or less why she decides to let him be her new master and join the harem.
To the anon wondering about the Chisato's love for Basara, I'm almost finished writing my response to your question.
To the Yuki fan, I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but Pre-volume 9 Yuki was more or less in love with the memories of her childhood friend Basara and the simpler times that version of Basara represented for her. I will say that Yuki is a childhood friend done correctly since she's able to grow out of it in volume 9.
Seriously though people please stop using the wiki as a source for information. Although the people behind it have good intentions it's filled with misinformation and head canon.
