Now, I think you're misunderstanding what I mean by "IK calculation". What you're saying is, that the IK calculation simply sets the target for the IK calculation, which doesn't make sense.
The IK calculation calculates the rotation of the bones in the chain, needed to reach the IK controller.
For that, it needs the initial rotation of the bones, from which to calculate from.
I honestly don't understand what you mean by the cart metaphor.
Tell me, if the IK calculation happens *before* the bones it controls transform, how could it possibly know how to do this without knowing the upper leg bone's rotation *first*?
