She's washing ALL of her clothes (including what she would otherwise be wearing) just because she doesn't own a lot of clothes at the moment.
But surprise! Every single piece of clothing comes out of the wash too small to wear. Just when she thinks she's out of the woods she ends up with no wearable clothing. She has to take her ruined clothes back to her apartment naked and then do a naked walk of shame to the department store with only her wallet to cover herself and a lot of explaining to do. And even then she can only afford the barest of necessities.
