Yui Toshiki was the only one I knew before coming here (and would I have known earlier I would have imported the German editions).
I wonder if this has to do with cultural differences (women in Japan not traditionally wearing such shoes as often as their western counterparts) and the fact that "high-society" in media generally has disappeared from Japanese media except to poke fun at the times of the bubble economy (or Ojou-samas/Little Ladies acting high and mighty).
The only niche where it lives on is "Race Queens" which don't really exist outside of Asia and don't get to be main characters (or side characters) in most media.
