>>3029723 explained, it's changing was the prompt does at different steps. So if your gen has 10 steps and you do [brown hair:red hair:0.8] it will do "brown hair" for the first 8 steps, and "red hair" for the last 2.
Pic related is an example using blonde hair and red hair to try and get a strawberry blonde look. You can see the earlier it switches over the more red there is.
