I've always considered one point to equal one centimeter, but it seems like that's not the case (and it looks like my height limit is 6'1").
I've been fucking around with proportions, putting legs beyond the maximum and torsos, heads below the minimum. While some characters look good with it (Lakshmi, almost every adult male), others don't (Ms. Mao as you can see). It's gonna be a case by case basis.
