>>1716367I had a few friends that are from china (hong kong and shanghai, they were exchange students) and asked them about this before. They are pretty straight forward in saying that a huge portion of the older generation are actually scared of black people. Which I actually believe because this was way back in highschool and the few group of them would become visible worried whenever they would walk near more than one black or middle-eastern looking person. Seriously. None of them would admit it out loud initially, but I became good friends with two of them and they admitted near the end of their stay. Hell they talked about how lowly people who are not from big cities are, kind of like a lot of Americans joke about rednecks... except they were like serious about how much better they were physically and mentally, and how even lowly Chinese are better than other Asian countries.
Obviously I could have just managed to meet up with two of the most racist people possible, but they were pretty sure that other people in china they share their views. Most likely though, they were just assholes.
