My waifu inspired me to be more level-headed in the face of conflict, to take a more practical outlook on life, and to stop taking everything so damned personally. I aspired to be the kind of person I figured she would want me to be. The phrase "Do it for Her" became a euphemism that was internalized, and used as a drive for self-improvement, and to a degree still happens from time to time today.
To give credit where credit is due, I do have to give some thanks to Asuka, as without her character, I would not have had an objective subject with which to see my own behaviors projected into...but she served more as the antithesis of what I wished to be, and as a reference point from where I had come from, psychologically, than any kind of end-goal.
