>>2353874I didn’t communicate my choice, but since I was reading at the page with the monster I had chosen, Yin knew at once. She allowed me to finish checking the material before making any comments on it.
“Are you sure about that one? I’m not sure you know what you’re in for.”
“Well, you’re not leaving me much of a choice, are you, ‘Master’? I can only obey!” I reminded her why I was being forced to toy with things I hardly understood.
“I said you could take your time. And uh… sorry. I’m trying to help.” I would have been mad but she did sound apologetic enough.
“Don’t worry,” I wanted to ease her. “I have it all figured out!”
“I don’t think you do,” she automatically responded, hurtfully quickly.
“I’ll just summon a puppy!”
I was looking at the page for Hellhounds. They were ferocious beasts that could make even the bravest adventurers tremble. They were immune to fire and heat, could spit the substance themselves, had steel-like claws and jaws and sometimes had multiple heads. They could grow to be as tall as a house but most were not; and it was a real tragedy that they were not available to be familiars due to their lack of speech and limited intellect as they could grow to be loyal creatures even without contracts.
That was adult hellhounds, though. Puppies should be much easier to deal with.
“How young are we talking?” Yin inquired. “The creature has to accept the summoning so it’s not going to work if you want something that is still sucking its mother’s teat.” So they did that? The page didn’t talk about breast-feeding. Did demons do that?
“Just a few weeks old,” I figured. “It says they take two years for them to be adults; so a puppy should be manageable.”
“Well, if you’re sure…” Yin sure was not. “Okay; so we need an offering; have Aurora catch something.”
