In MikuMikuMoving it can nevertheless be achieved by reassigning the "Offscreen" sub-effects of an AutoLuminous effect (you can have one to specifically work with your curtain and one to act as a general illumination modifier) to a shader/"Default" for every background material that matters for the angle and to "No Rendering" for the foreground/transparent material(s) & setting the rendering order of the foreground behind (higher than) the background. The rendering order of the background or the effects does not matter much for this particular purpose, but setting the background in front of the actors can reveal the silhouettes of transparent materials you have on your model and haven't set to "no rendering" in your Effect Assign dialog.
