Ami reacted without hesitation. Clutching her sole possession for all the powerless phone was worth, she went to the only nearby location that could keep her from view... the forest that was across the shore. Ami had to have time before whoever it was reached her. She spent the next minute or so rushing across the beach, the sand brushing across her bare toes until she reached the forested region, just in time to vanish from view. She was well out of hearing range, and was only able to vaguely make out a passing figure who seemed to be in a casual outfit of some sorts... was the island really not deserted? Whoever it was, Ami was only able to observe from a distance as the figure stopped, glanced around as if looking for someone... then continued on their way.
“Negative, no sign of anyone... yes, I heard someone was supposed to have washed up here... I'll keep looking, otherwise, we'll head back, maybe she already found help... the call dropped, after all...” The person saw no trace of anyone, completely overlooking the telltale footsteps that lead away from the beach.
Of course, Ami had no way of knowing the departing figure was there looking for her... so she just hid away until the figure slowly vanished from view in the other direction. By the time she lost sight of the person, she realized something far more alarming. The boat was still vanishing into the distance... and she was even further away! If she stayed away any longer, she risked it leaving without her! Still, the forest behind her... what if there was something there of use, or a village nearby? Maybe she wasn't so far away from civilization after all? Was it worth looking into, or was this her only chance of getting the vessel's attention?
**What should Ami do?**
