MMD is surprisingly easy to use, the main problem is that the most cohesive written guide to the program is OLD, and does not cover the program in very good depth. Most filters and effects that let you do things like Gentleman Frame or Frosted Glass you have to really dig to find a guide for.
On top of that, animating the removal of clothes requires a working knowledge of PMX Editor in order to weight and rig up each individual piece you want to move.
More often than not the model prep work and planning can take longer than the actual animating. That's why you see such long gaps between most creator's videos.
