Anime character's expressions are highly exaggerated and very easy to read and understand, whereas with real people you have to be aware of the slightest muscle tension movement anywhere which takes a lot of focus. Also IRL almost everyone has some unique body language reactions to their feelings, while in anime body language reactions are pretty much standardised across most characters. It just takes less brain power so it's easier to sit back and enjoy it.
