Reading all this worldbuilding here and in the /aco/ thread, I've been inspired by some character designs and a couple decent scenes, but still nothing that would come together into a decent storyline. Here's the basics:
A kind and friendly girl with a "cultural-type" costume of long flowing robes (vaguely Greco-Roman style). It's light and very loose and extremely flimsy, so she always tries not to move around too much and stay out of the wind when transformed. Fortunately, her powers let her stand still most of the time while she blasts monsters with pillars of light (themed around classical-style columns or something). Acts as a helpful senpai to the other newer magical girls.
A cheerful and very energetic girl with a "classical-type" costume in bright red with yellow and orange around the edges. Her thigh-highs almost look like they could be leggings at first, so observers sometimes think she's more modestly dressed than the others until the moment her skirt inevitably flutters just a bit too high. Powers based on forming rings of fire (themed like catherine wheels) with her arms and legs that she can fling at monsters (which unfortunately requires a tricky kicking motion that she's still learning how to do safely) and also uses to roll around and even fly briefly (which unfortunately keeps her arms and legs spread wide open the entire time). She tends to get excited during combat and only realize afterward that something embarrassing might have happened.
