Had this game not been a Metroid game, everyone would be mocking it for the terrible writing, pointing out how the main character is an massive failure and how the gameplay was "just passable".
The thing that makes my blood boil is Sakamoto's attitude towards it. Acting as if this, a game that gives up everything that made Metroid (the atmosphere, the immersion, the exploration) in favor of something that nobody gives two shits about, is the true evolution of the series. He also has tried so fucking hard to discredit the Prime trilogy, despite being much better games and much better Metroid games than this shit.
Finally, Samus might not have had much character before Other M, but she still had one. The Prime games went out of their way to add depth to Samus subtly, which is probably the reason why it has gone over the head of every single fucktard on the internet defending Other M. Prime trilogy gave us a thoughtful but conserved character who still showed humanity at the death of allies (dead marine in Prime 2, the Hunters in Prime 3), she was still proud of the shit she did (Endings for Prime 2 and 3) and dutiful. It might have been one dimensional and simple or whatever, but at least it was consistent.
Yes. I am mad. I mad as fuck that Other M is the direction Metroid will now follow. My favourite franchise is basically dead because some xenophobic cunt in Japan decided the westerns had tainted his beloved waifu. Fuck you and everyone who defends Other M.
Now take this fucking shit to /v/
