After re-reading it recently, I'm actually thinking about contacting the university he went to (
ugrad-www.cs.colorado.edu) and maybe getting contact info for him or one of the proof readers. I think all 3 had their full names listed in the fic credits.
Wouldn't be too hard making up some story to get the info, I work in investigations (no, notacop herp) and lie all the time to get info.
I wouldn't want to bug him as he's probably moved on much further in life, but you never know. Maybe he'd share what kind of ending he had envisioned. It really sucks he just dropped it.
