No reason why not. Most of these were cross-eye viewed single JPGs, except one which was a diverged-eye JPG.

I used this program to convert them:

To use:
1) File -> Create/Split MPO.
2) Choose SBS(Cross) JPG or SBS(Split) JPG as the file type, depending on if it's a cross-eyed or diverging pic.
3) Choose your file(s) - it supports batch processing.
4) Choose an output directory and hit "Convert selected" or "convert all" for everything in that folder.
5) Rename the resulting files so that they match the 3DS's image naming scheme (HNI_xxxx.MPO, where xxxx is any four numbers, you could also do this before conversion if you prefer).

notes: The program won'y pick up files with a .jpeg extension. Remove the 'e'.
Animated gifs will not work, but there may be some way to convert them to videos the 3Ds can play.

You can actually view these in 3D on your computer screen if you know how to look at them correctly. The method is very similar to the magic eye puzzles you saw when you were a kid.

this is great, I just wish they wouldn't mix with all my other 3d pictures though, maybe I could change their dates to a single one so that they can be categorized better

Oh and I haven't found out how to sort the images, which is bothering me, I tried making a seperate folder but then the images won't show up at all.

They seem to be sorted by date, but it's not the created date of the file, because those are all the same. Most likely it's the date taken, as recorded in the original image's EXIF data, assuming that data is preserved in the conversion.

Interestingly, viewing them this way really seems to underscore, for me, which of these are made well and which are lacking. The cross-eyed viewing was always a bit hit or miss for me so I could never say with 100% certainty if an image was done poorly. Now the simple shops and morphs and not-actually-3d-at-all images stand out like sore thumbs. (You'll notice that the original zip skips a few in the numbering scheme, it's because of stereo images that just weren't up to snuff.)

Further discoveries:

Sometimes the converted images are shown as unsupported files by the 3DS. It seems there is a *minimum* resolution. The side-by-side image must be at least 1280x480, the 3DS will scale them down, but not stretch them up.

You get a better result if you stick as closely as possible to the original aspect ratio of 640x480. The 3DS screen isn't exactly high-res, so cropping images down to just the detail you want to see will generally give a better result.

Borders on the image seem to throw the focus off a little, making it necessary for your eyes to strain a little to avoid double vision.

That explains why not all images in OP's file weren't showing up.

Hmm for some reason once I cut up zome images they won't work after they're converted to .MPO.
I don't know what's the problem yet, because wen I convert the original image to .MPO it works just fine, and the format isn't changed or anything.
Going to do more experimenting later today.
