I prefer to think of a collection not in terms of "large" or "small", but as a function of time. Collections grow over time, and it seems to me that the growth rate is pretty static.

I myself have 420 images (discluding doujins and /s/ material), which is ironic because I almost never smoke weed. However I try to be selective and weed out any images that no longer hold my interest.

just my /e/ folder is ~35k images close to 10gb. I wish there was a way to 'booru your images. So many sub folders and I have such a hard time occasionally deciding which folder to drop an image. Some images could be in multiple locations, but I try to keep them to just a single one.

To answer OP's question, my folder has only 36 files (17.6 MB). I only recently started my a folder for it, and I only save those pictures which stand out from the rest. There's a lot of mediocre junk here posted by shallow minded kids nutting to their fantasies...

Most of it is fetish material, so even if it's not amazing, I save it because I probably won't be coming by something like that again. Every now and again I do a sweep for anything that makes me wonder why I save it in the first place and either delete it or dump in on the appropriate board in the appropriate topic.

Looks like mine is 27,254 which comes to 8.38gbs.

Mine is sorted by series (or occasionally by artist), and in certain cases sub-sorted by character, though I've mostly given up on that because of the annoyance of group pictures.

I have a Random folder as well but I'm actually surprised in only contains 1,217 files; I expected more.

About once a year I go on a cleaning spree and trim some of if it.

A question to those with the larger collections:
How do you manage it once the folders and subfolders start to get large in size as well? If you want to find that one specific picture, do you have a way of getting to it?
I've considered tagging my pictures so I can just search for different tags and get things from a variety of folders (as many pictures have more than one possible filing area, making just dumping them into the most appropriate folder inadequate), do any other anons do this? Are there any programs you use for this kind of thing? While I can see the potential payoffs, it would be a lot of work with the initial tagging of my current library, so I wonder if it's worth the effort.
I can't stand to get rid of any ecchi for the possibility that I may want to view it later, but my collection is getting on in size and finding a specific picture is becoming inconvenient.

As for the booru-ing your collection, i've thought about out and I decided that's what websites are for.

Every once in a while i get pissed off because of the mess my folders are and how its impossible to fit all pics in a single folder no matter how i organize it.
Most recently I got to Shotwell, a nice app for tagging. I imported the folders one by one(biggest was 1500 pics) and tagged all the images in that folder with the folder name. Was a good start.
OTOH, Shotwell has bad integration with the filesystem and doesn't handle semantics, but it's still the best I have found so far.

My images have the tags as the name of the file all sparated by '-'. Just take a look at the image I posted as an example. Great to parse with scripts as well. Multi-word tags have the words separated by an '_'. This is pretty similar to have the *booru sites work as well, only they hash the tags in the filename.

Somewhere in the realm of 75000. But a lot of that is getting trimmed back to just like favorite artists, removing duplicates, and "crappy" art (like bad anatomy, etc.) Sifting thru archives of 2 years of DL's from the Booru's looking for the true gems.

Its started out looking for good artists to emulate, or get inspiration from. It's become an addiction. and I had to cut myself off.

I've had a lot of trouble organizing. I've tried organizing based on it's series (Metroid, Spice & Wolf, etc...) then by it's character. The random folder attempted to be sorted by themes. Christmas, Halloween, Beach, Bedroom... but then I get pictures like Chritsmas themed on a beach, or Halloween costume lying on a bed and it's like "Where the hell does this go..."

I've tried finding a good program for tagging images but most of them have some major flaw that bugs the hell out of me. The only one I can somewhat accomplish what I want and I don't hate is Picassa. But it has a lot of problems and bugs, Google really needs to update it. Someone above mentioned Shotwell, haven't tried that yet

Its separated by fetish and date created. I guess I don't see much point in further labeling. I also try not to start a new folder unless I have at least 100 files to go in it.

That said, I was wondering if any of you gentlemen would like to share your folders? Specifically what I'm looking for are bunny suits, mikos, china dresses, nurses, neko/dog/etc. My head hurts to think I lost all that. =/

i use adobe bridge, just like regular explorer but with tags, image preveiws of like 10+ pictures and you can veiw all subfolders at once.
despite the tagging system everything is still vastly untagged and unsorted

I am a hoarder. I just hoard images - there are no videos in this collection.
I organized it based on series then female character. Everything inside the individual female characters folder is unsorted. Each folder has both ecchi and hentai. I think the later was a mistake because ecchi and hentai are mixed and scattered among hundreds of folders.

dump folder (where I just drag everything in after saving a bunch of stuff elsewhere ) is currently 12 gb with about 85k files, possibly some duplicates, but not too many, also a fraction of them are flash animations, and so on.

Then some archived stuff on quite a few DVDs and other folders on a different harddrive.

I'm not really trying to impress anyone, though, I lost a looot of stuff over the years due to unbackupped harddrive failures, and I don't actually look at all of those pictures on a regular basis.
I just download stuff maybe fap to them and then they rot away, unless I am in a mood to play some randomized irfanview slideshows...

Pic always a fav for above sans massive rez. I sort mine with ACDSee 2.43 Classic. Simple but much more featured than base windows and more pleasant than something like adobe. Shits a brick with anything above 11k files per single folder though. Firefox tends to do the same when you have 100 or so open tabs as well. I save maybe 1 in 10 images I see then delete 1 in 10 from what I saved.
