>>1448884The refine edge tool is awesome, but not really useful in this situation, unless you go back to check what it misses. Which is why I predominantly use the polygonal line tool(my preference). It allows you to see what you miss as you are doing it. Because you need to be zoomed in very highly to follow lines in the original artwork. You can clearly see what you missed, and why, in the Mio pic you posted.
You cannot rush, i.e. there is no "easy way" to make selections(if you want it to look good). You must either use a combination of selection tools, or the polygonal line tool, and follow up with a soft brush(in either the mask, or after the image is flattened) to fix bleeding, soft edges, or minor selection errors that will always pop up.
Here's a few versions of a pic I just did. All selections were made exclusively made with the polygonal line tool. Took about an hour to complete them. And I made bleed fixes, etc. after the image was flattened. I will post a PSD file as well.
