I personally like feet in their own respect as part of the body. In pictures such as these, and the one attached, I like how the position of the feet and curl or splay of the toes are a further extension of the pose and an expression of the thoughts or emotions of the subject. The attached pic would not have the same mood if the subject's right foot didn't have the toes flexed back suggesting a touch of tension.
They may be flexed pensively, curled shyly, etc. Their position often says something about the subject of the pic in the same way an animal's ears say something about its mood.
