Am I the only one here who thinks the series is shit?
Don't get me wrong, if you want a good wank it's the best fap material you could get. The first Xebec OVA got me diamonds for Takeko alone.
But by all other accounts, it's shit. Even if we look away from the fact that the Xebec season removed all the actual story and replaced it with...something, the main character is blander than fucking Rito Yuuki (which is an achievement in itself), and the girls don't fare that well, either. You could call them "tsundere childhood friend with big tits", "ara ara nurse with big tits", "black girl that we don't explicitly call black with big tits", "token little girl bitch with small tits", and so on and nothing would change because that is literally all they exemplify. I can't even get hard to them because it's like getting a boner for a cardboard cutout.
It's hard to describe, but I would like it better if this series had some semblance of plot and character and humor with B-grade fanservice rather than a bland shitfest with S-level fanservice. Hell, the reason I liked the first OVA so much was because it tried to do something interesting with the whole gender bending gimmick (even though that fell through when the MC cried not because he alienated all his friends by being a total perv, but because he was going to stay a girl and eventually fuck a guy).
So ask yourself: beyond the stick nipples and Xebec fat, do you feel proud watching Maken-Ki? Because for me, it's one of those series with incredibly wasted potential.
