Well I'm gonna try giving the Hydrus server a shot, a gift for the New Year I guess.
I'll try setting it up in the next week or so and write up a quick-start guide or something for people to access it.
Hopefully there'll be interest in it and people actually contributing, but who knows
In the meantime here's a guide I wrote to get started tagging your own collections, it's really pretty simple:
>install from https://github.com/hydrusnetwork/hydrus/releases (grab the installer exe)>run the client, and drag+drop whatever images/videos you want to tag into the Hydrus windowThis will put those files into the "inbox" namespace, which basically means they're in the database but haven't been completely tagged yet
>select the files you want to tag and hit F3>in the box above the "my files" / "local tags" buttons, type in the tag you want to add and press enterYou can also scroll through each image and tag them individually, just double-click a file to open the image viewer, then press F3 and the same tag window will show up
Enter all the tags you want to set, then click back to the image viewer window and use arrow-keys to navigate to other images.
>once you've finished, select the files you're done tagging, right click and choose the "archive" optionThis will remove it from the "inbox" namespace, you can still add/remove tags afterwards of course, "inbox" is just useful for keeping track of files that you haven't started tagging yet
If you accidentally archive a file you didn't mean to you can easily send it back with the "return to inbox" right-click option
There's a bunch more Hydrus can do too, like ripping files from online galleries/boorus/etc, importing entire comics while grabbing page numbers etc from the filenames...
If you're interested you should really have a read through the online guide.
Some things might seem complicated but they're really pretty easy once you know how to use them:
