>>2159682I haven't watched Urusei Yatsura, but I watched a bit of Ranma 1/2 and I can tell you what I disliked about it.
For starters, almost all of the main characters were jerks. Some of the secondary characters weren't, and main characters being jerks isn't necessarily a bad thing, but a lot of them seemed to have few, if any, redeeming qualities.
Another is that the curses Ranma and Genma suffered seemed, at worst to be minor annoyances. Ranma never had an identity crisis or anything, nobody really cared that he got turned into a girl sometimes, and it was only brought up as anything besides a virtually nonexistant inconvenience in a small handful of episodes.
I know the series was supposed to be a screwball comedy, but it sure seems like there was a lot more promise in the ideas it presented than what they did with them.
