Improv Story Tim/e/

No.2164516 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Game time Ladi/e/s and G/e/ntlemen!

Remember that acting class you took all those years ago? Remember the improv games?
We're going to be telling a story, one little improvised bit at a time.

Basics:
>Any post with an image represents continuity in our story.
>Keep the story going
>Be creative

Advice:
>Story continuity beats image continuity. Our ill-fated protagonists will likely have 15 different hair colors in the first 10 story posts. So don't sweat small details.
>Make as many or as few posts as you need to tell your leg of the story
>Remember, "YES AND,"!
>Did the story get to a juicy part? Feel free to add images without accompanying text. This is an image board after all. Let's get to the good stuff, play around for a little while and move on to the next good stuff!
>Keep the text brief. If you press [Enter] on the keyboard, you've probably typed too much.
>Progress the story as you see fit. Add characters as you need to, but try to keep the overall complexity low and the continuity high. >Build off what came before, don't just shoehorn in what you want to happen.
>Think about where you're leaving off for the next story teller. Ask yourself would you be able to pick up where you left off?
>If the story lulls for a long period of time and you suspect a specific post or posts is to blame, and you unable to devise a way to advance the story that respects the continuity of the post or posts, rewind to the last usable post and continue from there. Do this only as a last resort.

Rules:
>Respect Global and /e/ board rules.
>Respect eachother
>Be creative
>Be constructive
>Have fun

Break a leg!
