I have had this idea where its in the post apocalypse. Where a monastery survived and monks, priests, and nuns. They take in any orphans they can find and bring them into the religion. They however realize that they have most of the population while there are few stragglers/survivors out there. So they offer the outsiders wifes because women didnt survive very well on the outside. In exchange they give the monastery scrap and medicine.
The wives would be ex-sisters who the church marries off to trustworthy scavengers and farmers.
One scavenger who trades scrap to the monastery gets the offer of a wife in exchange for a stesdy supply of scrap for the church to keep up repairs.
They marry him and his wife on the spot. She's an Ex-sister who is incredibly bashful about it and treats it entirely like a business transaction.
If the scavenger wants sex it has to be completely for procreative purposes. She takes care to the homestead but mostly keeps to herself. Trying to live a chaste life even though she was removed from her original one. Over time she learns to be a bit more normal and even start to love her husband. She starts taking joy on things and when she finally provides her man kids she is truly happy.
