A lot of us played the dub. Like, I personally would've preferred the sub, but they changed all of the character & location names (and many of the names of concepts etc.) in the dub - then the subs were "dubtitles", their text was a written version of the dub, not a translation of the Japanese.
I know quite a lot of Japanese, and I use subs to "bridge the gaps" where I don't understand - so when I tried playing it subbed, it was too distracting. Characters would address each other in one name in the spoken dialogue, and a different name in the written dialogue.
It really needed three options - "English Dub", "J+English Dubtitles" and "J+Englush Subtitles that are as close to the spoken word as possible", but I guess we were never going to get that.
