There definitely is a way to hide them. I've seen models with hidden morphs. The dude on the Iwara forum is working on a PMX editor apparently has it include the option to hide morphs. But, I do wonder how people do it currently. The way I've been going about it is just having those morphs in another tab. I generally only use the Other tab. So, to keep it clean, I'll put those "part morphs" in the mouth tab or something.

Well, the only others I'm aware of that have tried to pull off full recreations of minus8 videos in MMD are Birdway https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/608llc5x4uo12j4z (who I've heard is retired) and mmdannie with this https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm33337091 which isn't even R-18. In conclusion, you're the only one we can rely on now for faithful minus8 adaptations in MMD.

My original post was jokingly trying to back up my ass-kissing of akomni, but I'm serious when I say I think he's the one fit for the job of making minus8 MMD.

I've done some searches a few threads ago but the only people who seemed to have those models were freaking out about the thought of reuploading them (to be fair it was deviantArt). I grabbed 9 models from a torrent once but this Yunoa and the Vocaloids were missing. Hopefully one day we'll get them, sorry I couldn't help, maybe we need to look for some obscure torrents or deep search in Chinese, Mikitos were on Baidu once.

I've seen 'locked' models from deviant and I can easily remove it, but this author lock is just absurd. I did find one bit was changed in the codes but it didn't fix anything. Maybe he add/change the code in the middle of the file using a hex editor or something.

This has bothered me ever since i first figured out how to use the ray shaders, is there any easy fix to the white hair on some of the idolm@ster bikini models that you get when you use ray-mmd? Seems like a wird issue to have since it's not white at all normally and most models from the same set not having this issue.

Some hairs are only affected partially but characters like Yayoi is just white.

So, I googled "The empress of winter" since that made more sense and found it's a flower named Camellia sasanqua in china. But, that doesn't work and don't know where to go from there. Translating it to chinese didn't seem to work out. But, google translate isn't perfect so maybe that is the answer.

There might be, i haven't looked at them in an editor but i figured that would be fixed with changing the main to a non alpha one but the only one that made a difference was main_ex_with_sphmap and the albedo one, and it didn't look right at all outside of the actual textures not being white, makes sense it wouldn't look right but still.

I'm not too familiar with the editor, what should i be looking at, do i have to change anything about the model or just mess with the textures?

(Sorry, pic from Google search) go to the hair material and look in the "Opaque" tab on the screenshot, anything but 1 indicates transparency, if it's set at 1 it must be the textures which have alpha. There's a fix for the transparency issue so you don't need to get rid of the alpha, I can't boot up my pc but I think it was this:

It's not 1, considering the texture doesn't have an alpha layer i assume that's the issue, would it be fixed if i set it to 1? As for the fix... that's how i always set my scenes up, i thought that was the correct way to do it, needless to say it didn't work.

Damn that's strange, I sadly don't work much in raycast so I don't know much if it's outdated. Setting it to 1 should work, if not, make sure the texture is 100% without any alpha (for example export to jpg and back as a test), if it fails too, check all the boxes in material settings if they're the same as a material on the model which works. I'm sure it's not the mesh issue just the material settings so it won't require much to fix, I've had whole models appear neon green and noticed they have 0.999 transparency later, after putting 1 everything was alright

I could try just swapping it for the diffuse texture and apply one of the hair materials in ray to add some specularity, it seems crude but i guess it might work.

guys i have a question about tso2pmx, which build has the option to port the model and keep all the face bones used in-game intact so you can move it in mmd? the program erase those after the conversion, and i want to try doing the face morphs in pmx editor by using those bones, since finding saves for expressions for certain body sets is a pain in the ass. i swear i found once a ported 3dcg model that had those bones.

I suspected as much, usually it fixes models that looks weird in ray but works fine without it.

Can you select specific alpha modes or something on the hair? Maybe the texture has a weird alpha compression.

A fair warning, i know nothing of PMX editor beyond some tinkering.

Bandizip is always the best for non-english zipped files. Just change the language in toolbar after you add the file but before you extract.

Avoids the weird characters you get using winrar or whatever to extract Japanese files.

Changing an option in winrar prevents that. Unfortunately 7-zip requires additional changes to have the same feature.

Not sure if this is the same case I typically have to deal with, since I often see knees just bending BACKWARDS but... try pic related. For as long as I have to fuck with MMD this little thing has never failed me.
It might just be solution to your problem. Take note of the values highlighted with red border in lower right. You want this setup on marked bone.

The Loop was 80 and 3 and Angle was that 114.x and 224.x or something. I tried messing with those, but nothing fixed it until I just moved the entire model, except the feet, forward a bit.

I imported this model to PMX and it was huge. Scaled it down to 25%. However, the morphs still treat it like it's 100% size. So, slide the morph past 0.25, the morph goes beyond where it should stop.

It seems to be a common thing from those kind of models. I feel like I'm going to need to find a way to just make hair myself. lol
But, I probably wont ever do that. Way too much effort. However, finding similar hairstyles that people have made is always a solution.

There's probably an easier way, but the only way I know of is to show only the body and shirt with the vertex/masking tab then Ctrl+Lclick to get the weight then Lclick to weigh the vertexes on the shirt vertexes near it.

If it does, you'll notice it during animation of the model. But this highly depends on how different the clothing is compared to the model you're adding it to. You can use the weight transfer tool to segregate elements of the model using the mask tool in the editor. Just select the vertices and faces (not sure if the faces are necessary) for the section you want to copy from the model and it will only export those selected values. So if you were adding a bracelet for instance, you wouldn't need to select the entire model. Just select the area of the wrist on the model and export just that. Then select the bracelet and import. So if you're having issues with stretching, you can leave those areas out and paint the weight map yourself if you want.

That skin looks pretty good, a good skin is half the battle, that said i have no idea how to use it, at least Ray was in english, i can't even begin guessing my way through this, i might have to look up that japanese to english file renamer program again and hope it doesn't break everything.

I assume you're talking about your own translation version. It seems interesting but if it's not in english i'm honestly not gonna bother, i've been down that road too many times already and i just don't care all that much, i mostly throw something together for a qick fap every now and then and i rarely save what i animate, if i'm feeling extra lazy i just load a downloaded animation.

What intrigues me about Ray is the PBR aspect, ways to set up realistic scenes and picking and choosing correct materials but it's not suitable for all models, so i wouldn't mind an alternative.

Yes I translated every single PMX controller, configuration files and file names, using machine translation and a bit of common sense, and that is the thing, PBR gives realistic lighting, even though you can achieve pretty realistic lighting with N3+C too, I just don't do that, realism is not what I aim to achieve with that shader, I am fan of playing with color and realistic shadows just aren't very appealing to me, most of the videos I make have very soft shadows so I can still see the color of the materials, there is something about realism applied to anime style models that just doesn't click for me, but everyone has different tastes.

I use MMM only, and i don't understand why people still using MMD. MMM is more superious and handy. There are tons of effects is already adaptet for MMM. And there are always new releases. If the model has deformation bones set to follow an additional rig that is meant to handle the animation, then that might be the problem, MMM is not really the best for rendering your animations, the only thing that MMM make so much easier is making the animations, despite not stating it anywhere MMM is beta software, MMM2 is alfa despite being called a beta, both of them are far superior to MMD for animating, MMM2 even more so, for the rest though we still have good old MMD.

If you don't mind unshaded videos then yes MMM would be a replacement, but I think my theory is right, that model might have two rigs or sets of bones, one for animation and other for deformation, the deoformation rig just replicates the movement of of the animation one, MMM is just not letting that be done, I've seen many models by japanese creators that do this, specially if it is a port from another animation program.

Ran into an issue I've never had. For some reason, this is anklet won't move with the leg when I move the IK bone. It orks with the leg bone themselves, but it doesn't move when I move the IK bone. Same thing happens in MMD when I try to connect it to a bone. It won't move with the IK bone. I would weight this to the leg itself, but it had another bone and physics attached to it. Any help would be appreciated.

yes the latest version of MMM doesn't like what I did with her legs, Izumi has bones for her knees, butt and elbows that help preserve volume when she moves, version 1.2.7.5 ignores those boes and they just don't work, no problem since I only use it for animation and MMD handles those bones no problem, in the change lof for the latest version you can see that the developer made some changes on how MMM handles calculations for IK bones and that complete broke Izumi for MMM, so I stuck to version 1.2.7.5

Make sure the bone for the anklet is below both the knee and IK bones in the bone list, and that the deform hierarchy number is the same or superior to the IK bone, bones should always be sorted from parent to child in that list since that is the order MMD uses to calculate the position an rotation of every bone, if they are in disorder, it might cause problems, for the next pare this is what I have guesssed since there are no info in english for this and google translate was just not enough for what I found in japanese, the hierarchy number is pretty much a pass at calculating bones position and rotation, pass 0 is the first and then pass 1 and so on, so if the IK bone is hierarchy 0 the anklet bone should be 0 or 1.

I always figure she was original and not from an anime or game. Did you make all her parts yourself, too? Best I've ever done is basically take parts from a different model or material and shape it to fit a missing section of the body. haha. The idea of building a model from scratch is pretty crazy.

You'd need to change the offset seen in the red square in the pic.
If the toes on the actual model are facing down, then make a note of the offset value and open up the transform view. From there, click on those toe bones and move them in the opposite value of the offset. So, if it's -1, you'd rotate it 1.

If they are lined up already with the model's foot, you're going to need to open the transform view and rotate the foot around until you like where it's at. If not, you can just open the bone tab and alter the offset or move any bone they're linked to.

For that bone you are better off disabling custom local axis, you'll have to press the button that says local axis and make sure that it is grayed out as well ass the boxes to the right, you can also use the default values shown on those same boxes, it will give the same result, you could also press the arrow button and it will recalculate the loca axis and PMXe will try to give the best result but it will screw up some times, there is also a plug in that can help you with lining local axis the way you want,but like I said with that bone you are better off with the default values.

I really hate people who remove watermarks. I don't produce content, so it's not for that reason. It makes finding the original creator just that much harder Truly the scummiest scum people who do that.
I have actually found a few creators I then followed through reups. So, I wouldn't say it's 100% bad. But, I can see how it would be annoying.

I can understand it fully, the deal is that I found one of my videos re-uploaded.
I didn't even realize it was there the whole time until I noticed a drop off in views.
The guy had only my name on it and that was it. nothing else. I had to file a damn DMCA just to get it removed. He could have just easily asked instead of just being a POS.
I've noticed that this guy had more videos that were taken from IWARA as well.
I'm more than tempted to just put in a complaint to have the option of allowing or disallowing the option of downloading the videos there.

This is why I was also asking about the watermarks and so fourth. I'm working on something big and I don't want this happening.
