There's no real barriers and you can just be candid. You never have to put up a front cause she likes being with you for you. You start hanging out more and more, watching cheesy movies and playing vidya. She'll stay over at your house sometimes in an oversized t shirt because she trusts you and also cause she's comfortable enough with you so that it's not weird. Hell, sometimes you actually cuddle in bed, not in a sexual way, it's just like an extended hug or something, feels good to cuddle with someone. Then one day you try and actually give her a kiss and she backs away. Suddenly things are awkward for the first time. She starts hanging out with you less and less and for the life of you you try and make it better, but all that just makes it worse. You really just want to be friends again, but what's done is done. Eventually, she stops hanging out with you all together, and you spend every night missing the warmth of another human, of true companionship. Yeah, real life tomboys aren't like this at all.
