It is "Japanese/Eastern origin," and the style mainly takes from oil painting style, which isn't solely a Western thing. The body type has a clear anime/manga bent to it. Increase the thickness of the lines, simplify the lighting, etc. and it would be more obviously /e/.
You don't have to like it, of course. But beyond a vague sense "it looks Western," probably from the Renaissance-style influence, I don't see why it doesn't belong.
