Sadly as I think of it now, those crushes should have been focused onto real people but I was afraid of intimacy, connection, vulnerability, and so on. Had at least three girls, all of whom I found attractive and one was completely my type, after me in high school. One of them asked me out and I guess it surprised me and I was really screwed up anyway, so I just reflexively said no. Regret it to this day. Now I think I'm not capable of feeling love.
Oh well.
