>>2808891This is wrong and Retro Studios headcanon.
>1. Bounty hunting was described accurately in the Japanese manual of Metroid 1, Federation created a police force to arrest Space Pirates but they were too sneaky, so they offered up bounties on their head for capture and those who did so were rewarded, Samus was the best one>2. The term used to describe her profession in Metroid 1 was SPACE (宇宙の) BOUNTY HUNTER (賞金稼ぎ) aka (宇宙の賞金稼ぎ)>3. Japanese Metroid 1, which had saves, even rewards you with bags of money when you complete a save file>4. Super Metroid goes even further and uses the term 賞金稼ぎ (バウンティハンター) to describe Samus and further emphasize that she'a a bounty hunter>5. Captain Falcon, another nintendo property, also describes his profession as a bounty hunter and uses the same word as described for Samus (賞金稼ぎ)>6. The Story of Captain Falcon, a comic that was also available in the Japanese manual of the original F-Zero, again showed the profession accuratelyEx-Retro devs are dumb, they keep peddling bullshit. It's clear the reason why they rejected it is because it was not a good gameplay hook and it would have made Samus look too greedy for the brand (the retards compared her to Boba Fett who is a bad guy, despite Samus being caring and motherly). You can think this is a dumb reason to reject the idea, I don't completely disagree, but anyone who thinks Nintendo "doesn't know" or Japan "doesn't know" about Bounty Hunting, despite their constant portrayal of it in their media (like old anime) are retarded
