it was a fun event
watched 4 feature films back to back with a college friend
I'll start with the ones i liked
"The Peasants" was an absolute treat for the eyes
it was a kafka-esque story of russian peasants in a small village
the movie was apparently shot by camera first nd then a team of oil painters pain-stakingly painted every frame to create a lovely set of visuals
the story itself was based on a russian novel so ofc it was depressing as shit but damn the visual were so good
twas like that one van gogh documentary movie
very nice 9.5/10 i was glued to my seat
"Unicorn Wars" was a great bait n switch
Its a character study of the protagonist and his brother
they sucker you in with cutesy teddy bear characters and then sucker punch you with war crimes
i absolutely did not expect to see the teddies trench charge unicorns in a religious fervor led by a scarred and very flawed character
absolute kino 9/10 they did not make light of the cartoonviolence
"The Concierge" was literally just an family friendly anime movie
just good wholesome fun of human concierge working in a convenience store for antromorphic anial people and doing cutesy slice-of life things for the customers
very nice palate cleanser after watching the gay plastic skies shit
9/10 would watch it as an extended anime series
"Aurora Sunrise" was a documentary about an armenian woman who survived the amenian genocide done by the turks
it was a fun narrative explaining how despite the americans showing sympathy to her only exploited her so that they could run a pr campaign to jusify pushing a plan to have american mandate on turkey using "armenian restoration" as a front only to immediately 180 turn and bury the movie/PR campaign when having good diplomatic relations with Turkey served them beter
great movie for those who know how usually politics and history work
verycool that the director didn't cuck out and smooth over the details and nuance
7/10 y was this animated?
