Here is an example, 2 characters who probably give Rulf his ideas are Melville and Robert. Melville was born with all the money in the world and could just buy what he needed as opposed to working on himself. On the other hand, Robert is born with odds stacked against him which pushes him to prove himself to the other kids. The result is that nobody needs Melville for anything while Robert funded Hansel's quest since one is a little boy and the other is a real man.
Not sure but there is a good chance Rulf might think Danny is a spiritually gifted person who might get misunderstood. There is a lot to talk about but you can just look up spirituality and marijuana and this should give you a possible idea of Rulf's mind. I don't know but I just find it fun as hell to analyze Rulfs beliefs since it has a surprising amount of layers for what simply is a joke
