>>699877Lydia might be kind of complex. Lydia cares about being in control of any given situation, she's great and everyone else as beneath her. She hates weakness and vulnerability, and she won't tolerate anyone that disrespects her. Her group may be useful at times but she doesn't really need them, so why does she keep them around?
Nobody could accept Penny because she was fat, ugly, gross, and meek. All Penny wanted was unconditional love and acceptance, and that's what Lydia gave her. Lydia saw potential in Penny and, in her own screwed up way, she wanted to help Penny be the best person she can be. Now she's just ugly, fat, and gross.
Savannah was a lonely girl in need of guidance, she was too rough, hyper, and dumb for the other kids to get along with, so she started lashing out for attention. Lydia reached out to her and accepted her as she was. Now Savannah can keep smiling and playing with Lydia.
The way I interpret it, Addison doesn't idolize Lydia the way the other two do. Addison doesn't want to be at the mercy of anyone else, and she will never be satisfied with her lot in life as long as she isn't everyone's object of affection. She strives for a perfect life where she's the center of attention, something she'll never be capable of achieving. Being in a group of misfits isn't what Addison wanted, but Lydia DID reach out to her, so Addison can feel some small comfort in having someone looking out for her. She's the most reluctant member of her gang, but she would never betray Lydia for the kindness and friendship she's shown her, they've become real friends.
Lydia seems to have compassion for the lonely, the broken, and the overlooked. She'll accept and build them up if they can accept her for the rotten girl she is, and acknowledge her place at the top of the pecking order.
Also, I motion to change Addison's last name to Delisle. It means "Island," and it's soft and bland to pronounce, I think it suits her.
