I decided to take inspiration from JRPG stuff, so the classic evil demon king. I imagine him being ganondorf-y but with a Max spin. I drew some quick sketches (pic related) of what the general demon enemy minions might look like, taking into account what would be possible for random kids to put together. Playing into that classic pig-orc design, the background kids have these fake pig noses that would probably be easy for them to either make themselves or buy. All the rest of their gear is made of random crap as well.
But yeah, that's what I have so far. I imagine a cool boss fight at one point where you have to maybe escort something over to the fairy kingdom before the Dragon King's forces get a hold of it, and there is a big showdown on the bridge across the river as it's the last place the demons can get you before they can't chase you anymore into the fairy kingdom.
