I haven't draw it as often, but back when I drew Theo in military stuff, the guy (I haven't given him a name yet) was someone she encountered in her dreams, sort of like a being from another dimension. He was supposed to be an ideal for her, someone she would have been in love with and lived with until death, but neither of them are "real" I guess. And when she recognizes how she feels, and she realizes she can never experience a real human bond, she an heros.
But as I said I haven't drawn that in a while. I made a few drawings with writing discussing this but it's kind of old so I'm embarrassed to post it since there are glaring artistic flaws.
As of now, I think you could compare their relationship to Ren and Stimpy. They definitely care about eachother but it's pretty absurd and the relationship is awful, but they love eachother all the same. Classic sadist and masochist dynamic.
