I think Al Jazeera is qatari propoganda in the sense that Qatar is smart enough to fund high quality unbiased journalism because they know it will be popular amongst western liberals and boost their image. What I like the most is that they don't employ talking heads. Their journalists are constantly actually engaging with the stories and discussing ideas rather than just reading teleprompters.
The geopolitical situation in the gulf is so precarious, with western powers allying with the Saudis. I think they are actively demonstrating that they are the 'good guys', rather than telling us. Sure their coverage of domestically relevant issues and themselves is heavily biased, but I think the vast majority of their political coverage, of other nations, is less biased than other news outlets. That they have greater independence. You think conventional news outlets aren't biased, and don't have people pulling their strings?
Also i'll say that I like the Qataris for funding Al Jazeera but I have no idea about Qatar itself in general. It could be a smoke screen. Iunno. And it makes me not like the Saudis which is not hard but I know that should be taken with a grain of salt.
