that isn't good condition, my brother has one of those in his garage that has no scratches and the original stem and bars, I don't know what that thing is but it's probably worth $150 at best

From what I can see in the pic there hardly seem to be anything left of the original components. That frame and fork may be very rare to obtain in good contain, still the whole thing looks ugly.

Who gives a shit, most riders don't race and even technical trails are possible on rigid bikes if you go slightly slower and choose your fucking line correctly instead of relying on suspension to let you sleep your way through the whole thing

I used to pick my way through the local forest loop on my full rigid bike. Then one time I got the chance to try the same loop on a borrowed full-suspension bike. Bombing the trail on the full-susser was so much more fun, let me tell you.

They’re different tools for different riding styles anon.
You could argue the same thing about wheel size. What’s the point of technical features if a 29” wheel just rolls over them?
Some people just don’t enjoy riding stuff in that manner. I really like crawly technical bits, slow and methodical lines. 26” bikes with no suspension or limited suspension are my jam. But I totally get the idea of doing it hard and fast on a bigger full suspension bike.

The local mtb park isn’t a competition. Ride what you want how you want, just don’t piss on the trail.

nope, if it fits you should get it - branded 90's hybrids are great and that thing is cool.
rack and fenders, a better seat and less ugly stem, and you'll have a really nice bike.

people have said that the carbon bonded to alu lugs like that are untrustworthy. there's a guy here who has one, though. just early carbon from that time was generally more sketchy than now.
that frame is really small, be sure it fits you.
the stem and saddle are ass but those can be changed easily.

Old lugged carbon is questionable because the adhesive holding the carbon to the lugs can degrade and cause tube separation.
However, when that happens it’s very noticeable that it’s happening. Further than that, it can be fixed when that happens, it’s just new adhesive required.
Especially on a hybrid or road bike it’s less of a concern, because you’d see the issue gradually form. As opposed to a mountain bike where you could lose a whole lug suddenly on an impact.

I would only buy that if you intend to keep it pavement oriented.

You should buy it. I love my Ti/carbon tete de course and as far as I’ve seen spine frames aren’t any less reliable than carbon on it’s own.

basically like a tourer but a little more similar to an old rigid mtb in terms of geo and componants just with 700c rims instead of 26ers
i was almost gonna buy a real tourer a dawes galaxy but i decided its too fancy for a bike im gonna lock up
i wish i had the space for more than a couple of bikes id so have a load of pretty collectables

Ah, it's one of the newer trek 720's. That would be prefect for commuting, I like 700c for the flats and decents since I find you can pick up and go faster generally compared to 26's or smaller.

based. May not be collectible but it's damn rare after the 2010's to see any bikes with carbon+ti or any other dual frame material bikes.
Used to be pretty common on weird bikes from the 80's on.

The frame and components are all 2004. But thanks, the ride is absolutely impeccable. Probably my favorite bike that I’ve owned in terms of feel.
